On December 14th, 2016, Region 6 Department staff stocked 200 Gila Trout from the Whiskey Creek lineage into Dude Creek. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mora National Fish Hatchery, made the long trek from New Mexico to Arizona. This is the 2nd Gila Trout stocking in Dude Creek, and the trout population will be monitored in future years to assess the success of the introductions. When the trout population becomes self-sustaining, we hope to open the stream up to recreational angling.
