The Region 3 Fisheries Program surveyed Lookout Wash in May 2017. Lookout Wash is a ¼ mile spring on a private ranch in GMU 18A where the Department stocked Longfin Dace in 2013 & 2014. Historically, no fish have been observed in the spring but Lowland Leopard Frogs and Black-necked Gartersnakes are present. The Department electrofished the spring to evaluate the success of previous stockings. We collected 67 young of year (YOY) and 24 adult Longfin Dace and this is the third year YOY have been observed. This is significant because these dace came from a system with nonnative competition and predation and now are successfully established in a native only spring. End:
