May 22, 2017 marked the beginning of intern season at the Arizona Game and Fish Department. The Department offers paid internship opportunities for students who are interested in gaining hands on experience in the fields of fisheries and wildlife management. The Department’s Native Aquatic Program hired three interns to assist with a variety of native fish monitoring and management projects throughout Arizona. Common activities will include fish population monitoring, habitat assessments, non-native fish removals, and native fish reintroductions. When not interning for the Department, these interns are full-time students from either Northern Arizona University and Colorado State University. Keep an eye out for these new faces on future In The Current posts!

Department interns took electrofishing training at the Aquatic Research and Conservation Center.
